This film is apparently making a comeback, if it ever left. Does it have anything to do with Prince playing the Superbowl halftime show? I have heard it referenced by smart people on three occasions in the past week. I still need to see it.
No it has nothing to do with his half time show, though his half time show was quite good, in my opinion. Purple Rain should be assessed purely on its musical merits -- I wouldn't try to read too much into it as the artist is out there, even by today's standards
