Startling fact of the day: 1 in 3 American Indian women will be raped during her lifetime. Non-Native men commit most of these assaults. In Alaska, Indian women are 10% of the population, and 50% of women raped every year. Almost none of the rapists are charged with a crime. Do Native lives not matter? Source: Amnesty International, via NPR.
The subsequent story that day concerned the laying of an egg by a California Condor in Northern Mexico, the first time in 70 years that such has happened outside US borders.
I wonder what to make of this sequence.
